🌸 Positive Corner

“You can’t stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.” ~ Winnie the Pooh

Nothing beats sage advice from a stuffed bear, right? LOL That's the beauty of children's books - they're loaded with solid, grounded, always works advice for us. Whether we paid attention in our youth or revisit as adults - we're treated to ideas that help us ponder where we are in life, what we're doing, and how we could be doing it better.

This one in particular is so simple, yet I sometimes find it hard to do.

I can't stay hidden in my office, behind my phone, or sit on the side and wait for others to come to me. If I want to laugh and play with others, I have to let them know!

That means I have to reach out to them. I have to be the one that says "want to come play with me?" Honestly, when I do, it turns out they were hoping someone would reach out. And we both (or 3 or 4 of us) end up having a grand time!.

Whether it's reconnecting with old friends or making new ones, life is about the connections we dare to make. So, why not make this week about saying “Hello!” to someone new or someone you’ve missed?

Amazing things happen when women collaborate!

Heck, just look at the wonderful fundraising efforts of the women in your community. Or, if you're a women in business, look at what's happening in the UK - women-led hubs for collaboration.

She preferred working at women-only spaces rather than those "more dominated by men.

"I think we can be more comfortable," she said.

"It's nice to support one another and to be completely at ease with ourselves."

See how Lynne Franks OBE set up The SEED Hub Club. Hmmm...maybe this is something you could do in your community?

📚 What We're Reading

A masterful debut novel about three women whose lives are bound together by a long-lost letter, a mother’s love, and a secret network of women fighting for the right to choose whether or not to carry their pregnancy to term — inspired by true stories.

Weaving together the lives of three women, Looking for Jane is an unforgettable debut about the devastating consequences that come from a lack of choice—and the enduring power of a mother’s love.

A quick review by a reader - Barb Druss

Honestly, it was a clear and honest look into the past. The past when abortions were handled by non-medical personnel in back alleys, secret back rooms, and dirty offices. A time when it simply wasn't safe for women who made the choice to terminate their pregnancy.

Reading this book, I felt angry that women today are being forced back into the dark when they want to end a pregnancy. And I felt good knowing there's a chance women can once again have freedom of choice about their pregnancy.

I think this book is extremely well-written, easy to read, and best of all not gory. It doesn't need to be to get the message across.
