Shine A Light On Safety

Hey there, beautiful!

It’s that time of the week - I know, it went by fast didn’t it? We’ll blame the time change, okay?

You'll see a few changes inside.

The team and I met to read the emails you've sent (thank you!) and look over your responses to the survey (link at the bottom).

Based on your thoughts we've changed the Wellness Tip to be Self Care In Action. Thank you, Sandy! That is so much more accurate.

And we thought we'd share what one of us is reading.

And finally, thank you to a survey taker, we added a To Do List for the week.

Now - grab your sparkling water, tea, or coffee, and let's share a moment of good vibes together!

🌸 Positive Corner

"If you want light to come into your life, you need to stand where it is shining" ~ Guy Finley

Want to know what I got from this? If you want something you need to be where that something is.

I think Guy Finley is telling us to first figure out what "light" we want in our lives. Then to surround ourselves with people who give it to us.

For me, I want positivity and joy and support. The people I surround myself with give this to me. They're my team here at Self Care Genie, my friends in town, and my family.

Online I want to surround myself with the same. I do this by joining groups of women who are honest and supportive of one another. They discourage negativity. They acknowledge challenges and problems and they encourage living in the solution.

😊 Self Care In Action

Imagine a world where keeping an eye on your home, your furry friends, or even your garden is as easy as screwing in a lightbulb.

No, really! I've found a gadget that is truly that easy. Meet the Light Socket Security Camera™ - an ingenius little device that's as easy to install as... well, changing a lightbulb!

This nifty security camera screws into any light socket, indoors or out, and connects to your iPhone or Android in a snap.

That means no wires, no complicated setups, and absolutely no need to drill holes in your walls (because who wants to do that?). It's like having a guardian angel that fits in the palm of your hand, watching over your home and loved ones with a vigilant, yet invisible, presence.

Here's the kicker - it's not just about security. It's about giving you peace of mind. Whether you're at work, on vacation, or just out running errands, this camera lets you check in on your home any time you want. Day or night, rain or shine. It's like having your own personal security guard who never takes a break.

And the best part? It's affordable. I'm talking less than a tank of gas for something that can offer you round-the-clock peace of mind. Plus, with an exclusive 50% discount offered to Self Care Genie readers, it's practically a steal.

So, why not give yourself the gift of security and peace of mind? After all, self-care isn't just about the body, is it? It's about caring for every aspect of your well-being.

📰 Good News of the Day

In the heart of New Jersey, a fairy tale comes to life in the most enchanting way possible. She wanted a space for her son, who has autism, to explore nature. So, she created a whimsical fairy forest.

The Fairy Trail at the South Mountain Reservation is a magical space where you'll find fairies among the foliage. Small whimsical cottages are hidden in the tree trunks and branches – a surprisingly sweet sight in an otherwise normal-looking forest.

Created by Therese Ojibway, a mother inspired by her autistic son's connection with nature, this trail is a testament to the healing power of the outdoors and the joy of imagination. It's a reminder that sometimes, the simplest pleasures bring the greatest joy.

📚 What We're Reading

Last week this book was on our recommendation list. I just finished reading it and Oh My Geezy it's good! It's a powerful and magical novel told from three POVs in three time periods and three Weyward women with family ties.

1619: Altha. On trial for witchcraft in connection with the death of a local farmer. She has a way with plants, but must be careful who she trusts with her healing skills.

1942: Violet. Kept isolated in a manor house, denied the education her brother receives, denied the opportunity to visit the local village. No one speaks of her dead mother. The only clues she has are a necklace and a strange word etched into the baseboard of her room.

2019: Kate. Flees London and her abusive partner for an overgrown cottage left to her by a great-aunt she barely knew. As she begins to heal, she notices a strange connection to the natural world.

I could not love this book more. The smooth writing, strong narrative voice, beautiful setting, connection between the women, system of magic, and an incredibly compelling story. I was completely swept up in each of their stories, loved all equally, and could not put this book down.
